Jan as in "Jan and Dean"
Anyone have any idea if you can still get any of the original emulsion, or is it all completely gone by now?

Not from the usual stores like B&H and Adorama... however, there are many listings on ebay.

So Rollei Retro is the same as APX 100? I though that the Rollei was a different emulsion.

Rollei Retro 100 is APX100, and RR 400 is APX 400. Both are easily available in Europe at least, though the rollfilm is getting scarcer. There are quite a few films with Rollei Retro in the title so watch out you don't end up with extended infra-red, or orthochromatic or something !

They are one and the same. Cheap, too, you can buy it online at http://macodirect.de/rollei-retro-twin-packbr2x-13536-p-395.html.

Don't use the Rollei films with an "s" at the end. Those are not APX emulstions.

Ultrafine has both APX100 and 400 in "private label" single roll packaging, and 400 also in 55' bulk rolls.
They claim:
Haven't tried it but if someone has, please let us know. The pricing is very attractive ($1.49/24 exp. roll).
They claim:
Agfa private label, edge number, loaded from fresh Agfa Pancakes to pass the savings on to you

Adox will produce the original APX100 and APX400 as ADOX PAN 100 and 400, production will start first quarter of 2010 (at least this is what i understand with my poor German) :

That's all very good - but meanwhile I'm going to stock up some more of the Rollei Retro 100 for 1,49€ per roll.

Yes, you're right. APX400 should be produced since end of last year, the APX100 Production should start soon.
I have 30 "original" roles of AGFA APX100, they are relativly cheap around here. (10 for 19.95€) They expire around 12/2011. I have no experience, but the production ended about 2005. Can a film last for 6 Years?

Yes, that's what it says for the 100 speed. Under ADOX PAN 400, the announcement even says end of 2009. The copyright small print has not been updated for the new year, either. Looks like they haven't gotten around to adjusting their forecast.

Actually the last master rolls of APX 100 were fabricated about 4 years ago. ISO 100 film lasts easily 10 years or more when stored properly. We know that the master rolls from which Rollei Retro rolls come from were stored in Germany deep underground in dark and cool environment so the film is basically still fresh.

Fotoimpex in Berlin still sells them. I've bought 50 rolls recently from them.

I bought about 50 36exp cassettes from B&H about 3 years ago, and 30 bulk rolls from Ultrafine at the same time. The cassettes have an expiry date of 11/2010 batch nr. 697 and the bulk has an expiry date of 07/2010 batch nr. 698. It's stored in a dark cool metal cabinet and I used some recently and it's fine. Ultrafine had a huge amount of bulk a few years ago. Seems they still have some and are converting to rolls.

Very thin base and extreme curl is a known issue with some of the film currently being sold as APX100.
How is the film Ultrafine is selling in this regard?
TIA,

Compared to other film I have at the moment, bulk HP5+, NP1600, XP2, the APX base is about the same. No noticeable curl. It's very dark in color, almost black.

So, I have a bulk of apx100 that the expire date is 2001. This means that It's still the old agfa emulation, isn't?
