I just recently picked up a roll of "Images" film at my local 99 cent store. It is made in Germany and packaged in China. Does anyone know if this is Agfa film and, if so, which one?

BTW, this is my first post but I have been viewing for over a year now. This is a great forum.

I know Agfa Film is still available up here in Canada, Amplis Photo bought out a huge position on the inventory and for now, APX 100, 400 plus Rodinal is plentiful north of the 49th. Also, Rollei is selling Agfa film under their name, I guess until stocks run out. The only people who know for sure are the distributors who are selling the film to the dollar store.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no other film recently made in Germany besides Agfa. So if the film *was* made in Germany, then I would say it is Agfa. There are/were a number of other manufacturers in Germany who played it close to the vest and claimed to be actual film manufacturers, but as far as I know, they were not. Macophot, Rollei, and a couple of others spring to mind. None of them actually had a factory or made film, to the best of my knowledge. Now that Agfa is gone, they are slowly dropping their film as well, as the stocks run out.

Best Regards,

To my surprise, I ran into some Agfa Vista 200 last week. Expiry date mid 2007. Can't determine production date, but who cares, I've got a couple of weeks worth shooting Vista ahead 🙂
