Agfa Karat 36 with solinar 1:2,8 /50 lens

Been using this camera today and noted a small green up/down lever on the side of the synchro-compur lens. Anyone know what it does? this "36" is a fine old camera. I've never even seen an original but a trip to Good-willies el-cheep-poe camera bin did yeald an old Kodak lens cap that fits nicely. A DeJure wrist strap makes the setup into a smart-look ,very pocket-able combo. But what IS that green lever?🙂

I'm not sure. I do know there is a lever that engages the T (time) shutter function. I suggest that you get the manual from Butkus.org and compare its instructions with the camera.

BTW, the Synchro-Compur is the shutter, not the lens. The Karat 36s were supplied with one of several different lenses.

That's the M X sync lever. If you look closely, the letters are just below the lever on the shutter body. Up for M, down for X.

And while we are on the subject of Agaf Karat 36's, does anyone have much trouble keeping the sprocket cover engaged? Mine tends to lift, letting the film slip on the sprocket wheel.

PF, Thanks for the information the lever. I had checked the manual but didn't see anything. The little cover on mine seems to "click" in place after loading. Maybe an adjustment is possible or a replacement from a parts body. Good luck, Red

PF, not sure if it's spring loaded, but mine seemed to"click" into place. I do have an older model a plain KARAT and it has a very small piece of chrome that puts pressure on the film hold-down plate. Maybe yours is only bent out of place. Good luck, Red

Finally got to looking at the guide, and it is controlled with a spring loaded detent. I think the spring has probably gotten tired, and needs to be expanded. It appears that two screws are all that holds the guide in, so it shouldn't take long to fix.
