Agfa Karat36 , Karat

After nearly a year of non-use both my karat and my karat 36 are failing to shoot. Any ideas? I'm currently trying the "watch TV hit shutter switch then rewind" method. May set the other one in the warm sun to perhaps loosen any harden lube. Both exhibit a scale of craftsmanship seldom even seen these days.

Have they ever been cleaned and lubed? If so, how long ago?

warming it in the sun will only be temporary and your shutter speeds will likely be slow anyway. sounds like it's time for a full cleaning. i just finished a karat iv, with frozen focus and oil all over the shutter blades. it runs like new and will be good for a long time. these are such great cameras and they deserve a nice cleaning!

Those cameras require a proper CLA, particularly if they have the Solagon lens which is good (massive understatement here).

Don't risk it... particularly with the focus helicoid or the film advance. They need new grease.
