The large adjusting ring(lg. knob) on the ft. of the camera ,the one that moves the whole lens in & out is much harder to adj. than it should be . I'd like to squirt some graphite or perhaps a little 3 in 1 but I don't want to damage this neat little folder. any suggestions. RED R.

Have it CLA'd by a camera tech. If you go squirting oil etc you'll ruin the camera. This stuff has a way of getting into areas it should not be.

Thanks for the return. I had a sinking feeling that's what I was in for. Wonder if BP could use that, Lube into concrete , trick in the Gulf of Mexico?

In order to fix the issue you'd have to completely disassemble the focus helicoid, clean off all the old lube, relube, then try to reassemble it in the exact way it originally was. If you miss it even by one row focus will be off.

I'm OK with small stuff but that sounds up -up- and away beyond my skill. Any idea about how much a job like that would be? Would you know of a shop that might be able to handle it. Red R.

I failed to mention that the lens/shutter unit would have to be removed before gaining access to the helicoid.

Since I do my own repairs I don't know of anybody who could do it or how much. You might check other repair threads for names and then contact them..

Before anybody asks me though...due to liability issues I would not be able to do repairs on others cameras. Too risky since I don't have a business license or insurance...
