Hi all, I've been on the look out for a compact 35mm point and shoot to complement my Leica M stuff, and today I spotted an Agfa Optima Sensor 1035 in an op-shop.

It's not a model I'm familiar with, but the size is about right, the body feels very nicely made, and the viewfinder is huge and bright.

Anything I should look out for? I can't find much mentioning them online, and even less that's in english... The lens and viewfinder are both clean, and the leaf shutter appears to fire properly. Does anyone know the whereabouts of an english user manual? Also, I'm curious how the film loading and rewind work...

Thanks in advance!

Film advance and rewind are done via the advance lever. To rewind you have to press the "R" button and then the advance lever is used to rewind te film.
To load the camera the cartridge is simply put in the chamber, the film starter is put into the arrow marked slot, you close the back and advance/shoot til frame 1.

I've got one. I love the design. I am not thrilled with the lack of aperture control, or the fact that it only goes up to ISO 400 sensitivity. If it went to 800, I'd probably be happier.

I've been thinking of selling mine since the XA fills all those needs. The 1035 has a waaay bigger viewfinder though. Really nice.

My agfa 1535 sensor has a rewind problem. Sometimes it winds normally, sometimes the lever just goes freely without actually rewinding film. Each time I press the R button, turn it and rewind the same way. Are there any tips, or as i guess there should be some broken gear in there somewhere?
