Hiya,

I've been building a small collection of cameras and now have around 40. I've never attempted any repairs but think I'm going have to start some simple ones sooner or later...
Can anyone recommend any good books or websites for a beginner?

My Super Silette's rangefinder needs adjusting on the vertical. Is this a suitable job for a novice and if so does anyone have instructions on how to take the top off?

Cheers,

Steve

It's quite an easy job. From memory, you need to remove the rewind knob by simply holding on to the rewind dog in the film chamber and unscrewing the knob. To remove the wind lever etc you start by removing the centre-screw, which will need something like a pair of circlip pliers to turn it with the 2 little holes. You will find then that the lever is held by 3(?) screws. You can safely take off the lever without the return-spring unwinding! Once the knob and lever are off I think you will find a couple of screws which you remove to take off the cover.

The adjustment for vertical rangefinder alignment is a screw which you can see through a hole in the top-plate of the viewfinder assembly, towards the back. The infinity horizontal adjustment is visible from the rear between the viewfinder assembly and the top of the body towards the left. There is a screw in the front of the assembly which looks like a rangefinder adjustment, but it is not. It just seems to act as a stop for the rangefinder lever.

Steve.
