AgfaPhoto is dead ... RODINAL alert !

Rodinal is one of the oldest film developers ever. Patent long since expired. Lots of companies make it now, they just don't call it Rodinal. Don't panic!

Now, APX film, that's a different story.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

No big deal

No big deal

All it takes to make Rodinal is p-aminophenol hydrochloride, potassium metabisulfite, sodium hydroxide and water. As to APX-100, well... just switch to Tri-X, The Film That Will Never Die. (Hopefully).
Cheers

ah crap....i much prefer agfa paper to ilford... 🙁

Me too, but I switched to Ilford a while back for three reasons.

1. Support your local industry (not something we have much chance to do in the UK 🙁 )

2. Ilford really seem to be trying to survive.

3. I discovered RC Warmtone and selenium toner and my life changed. Agfa still made better glossy RC paper though, RC Cooltone just doesn't come close.

I'm sorry to see Agfa go and I will miss Rodinal for the hours of fun playing with different dilutions and agitation regimes but it was all downhill after APX25 went really. I wish their workers all the best for the future.

I found this interesting....

"He said these include Fuji, which was keen to acquire a part of the business and is expected to submit an offer tomorrow. "

Correct. There might be a few subtle differences, though, so make sure to develop a few test rolls before moving on to the really important stuff!

Dagnabit, I've been using grape Kool-Aid in mine!

I stocked up on 3 bottles of Rodinal a couple of months ago, that was all I could find at that time. I guess I will take a look again at the local stores and buy whatever Rodinal they have left if they managed to get some new bottles in...

But I do not worry too much, I guess there will be replacements available locally, eventually. Pity on the films and paper, I would have loved to try them.
