Ahem... did you see who the "Top Referers" are?

If click on the 'Module Jump' on the left and select 'Active Threads', look on the left and see who the "Top Referers" are.

Don't think we need that kind of publicity do we? It's probably just somebodies little script kiddie generating all those reference hits.

My thoughts too egpj. The similarity, they all come from the same top level domain. I suspect someone's spamming to see how many different sights they can get their name to pop up on. I suspect it has little to do with anything found here except potential hits.

Referer spam! Apparently the idea is that search engines like Google, etc, find the referer links in their constant indexing of the web, and that increases the presence and thus the value of the sites, along with actual hits from the forum or blog owners and the occasional bewildered visitor to the stats page. It's rendered referer stats pretty much useless.

I spent nearly an hour on the first one I found at my blog, trying to find where it linked to me. Now I spend too much time trying to block ref spam without blocking legitimate traffic. It's a jungle out there 🙂

Lord Stanley's cup Marc, nice!

It is bad luck to touch it though if you name isn't on it.

Considering how many people touched it that day, that's a lot of bad luck floating around!

We had a chat with the guy in charge of the cup (what a job!). He had some pretty wild stories about it. Each player of the winning team gets to bring the cup home for a week. So it ended up in pubs and other venues and even in a small boat on a lake for a fishing trip.
