I was quite interested to read that Alec Soth used a Mamiya 6 to shoot his latest book, "Dog Days Bogota." I don't know what I thought he would have used, maybe a Hasselblad or something, but I've always admired his photos, the look he gets, and the way in which he works. His 8x10 stuff is pretty amazing in my eyes and I've seen many videos on Youtube of him working his large format gear.
Mind you, it's not the gear it's the photographer. Just thought it of note that he doesn't always work in such a slow, calculated manner that the LF tilt shift gear demands.

His dog days book was actually shot before most of his current 8x10 work, if I recall.

They were not originally travelling for a photo project, one just evolved.

Interesting guy. I'd like to sit down over drinks and talk with him some day.

Yes, I think it's a book that will be very special to his daughter. Quite aside from the fact that I like the photo's, I think he has one of the best photography blogs on the net. I admire his ideas and drive as a photographer.

The Dog Days work was shot in 2002, so it seems it was done before the other books of his. I'd love to know what he's currently working on. I saw a show of his at the Photographers Gallery in London before I knew who he was. I wish I bought the books I saw of his then as they were worth a fraction of what they are now!
