All Black FED 2

Hi,
Tried that. The tripod mount comes off but not the baseplate. On the Feds you have to remove the twist catches. It has to be the same on the Zorki but I can't see how they are fastened.

Kim, I have the Zorki 3 and Zorki 3m, which are the predecessors to your camera. Once the screws are loosened that secure the tripod mount to the base plate, the base plate will fall off the camera back.

I just tried it, you are correct. I'm sorry to say that I don't see any magic tricks that let you remove the cam locks either.

Sorry about that.

Sorry about that.

That GREEN Zorki 2c nearly broke my computer monitor!
Solinar,
If your monitor can stand it, try this .(esp. the second from top and the last two)
It's like watching a train wreck: awful but I just can't take my eyes away.

Unbelieveable, I'm going to have one my Leicas engraved to be a Zorki and have the Elmar engraved to read Industar 22.

I must admit that the disfunctional slow shutter speed dial is a nice touch, as the lack of faux German military inscriptions from WWII.

That seller ended the 6day listing and sold the item to me, it seem he is satisfied with that price, anyway, I've paid wish me good luck.

Jun,

Hope you picked up a nice camera.

I may still look at the other seller who had the 2E in black, although after reading this forum I may just look for a mint chrome one.

Either way, be sure to post up some photos once the camera arrives.

"LEICA II Vintage Camera, MIILITARY, *Desert Storm* Extremely RARE"

Shouldn't there be a law against that? I mean, couldn't that fall into the catagory of Rangefinder Terrorism or something? Train wreck is right... now I've got to try to sleep with those images dancing, darting and SCREAMING in my head!

Back to the thread, though I don't own one [yet], I really like the looks of the black FSUs. And I can seriously see me taking on the project of doing one myself in the future, so all the comments/tips/wisdom/experiences are greatly appreciated! I wondered about the re-paint of the logos... and now... I KNOW!

Thanks guys! .... and good luck jun yan with the new FED!! And happy hunting mikule!

I didn't know the US army still used Leica III's in 1991 :D
A black FSU rangefinder is definitely 1000 times nicer  I hope you'll take some beautiful photographs with it.

That zorki is superb, the black paintjob, the hammertone leather, just wonderfull. Except i really prefer the engraving instead of the tag, but you can't change anything about that :) But then again I might be nitpicking

And I find there is a small hole on the shutter curtain I sitck a black tap on it and then....the shutter stucked, I try to fix it....

That's what happen to my first fed2 which was like new an hour ago.
The bad news is I did not fix the shutter successfully and one spring is missing :( .
Good news is I bided another black Fed2 from Ebay yesterday.
:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

What a pity the repair didn't work. But can't you try again to reassamble the fed-2? You might be able to salvage it. I hope you can repair it, cause it's one hell of a rangefinder. And otherwise you can still enjoy your black Fed-2.

The collapsible fed 50/3.5 is my favourite lens, 2 of my 4 lenses are collapsible 50/3.5 fed's, that shows how much i like them. They arent really sharp or very contrasty, but I just love the way they draw the picture. It has this vintage look and the single coating renders highlights in black and white very nice. :D And it's very compact, so it's my favourite lens  My only problem with the lens is that with the 3.5 aperture, the depth of field is to big for me. (i like a shollow DOF)

So I use the fed 50/3.5 as a cheap alternative for the noctilux, i love the images by a noctilux, but it's to expensive :( But hopefully one day, in a very distant future, i shall have a m3 with noctilux.

Yes it is BEAUTIFUL! But HERE at the bottom of this page is my favorite.
I also like the collapsable 50mm/f3.5 lens. I own an Industar 22 that is in very nice condition.

I'm getting very tempted to paint a fed-2, but not black, I still wonna be original ;) , I would really like an olive one. I might do it in juli or august, if I find the time and tools. :) But then I'd learn to get handier :D
