I think, although I might be wrong, that the M6TTL metering range was extended by 1 or 1.5 EV over the M6. All the later models (M7 and MP) share the same upgraded meter.

M-5 was the first with the meter, but it often not recomended because of size among other things. M6 is good, but many feel that M3 or M2 without the meter are the best.

M5 is a great camera. Bought one new in 74. Still have it. bought a first run m6, sold it. Bought m7, sold it. M5 is the best of the three. best ergonomics, best meter.

For unmetered M, M4 is the best IMO.
