I have a lone Helios 103,which I purchased from a confirmed Kievaholic(Max) a while back.
Then it worked really well on a nice Kiev,(which perhaps I should have kept.)
All the recent Kiev posts, usually about fine Kievs, are tempting me to search out another one to link up to my lonely Helios.mmmm

There's a nice Kiev II out there waiting for you, you know.
But you remind me to go down to the flea market next Friday or Saturday.

In all fairness this is a one-of-a-kind prototype camera for one of the most advanced rangefinder cameras made in the Soviet Union, and quite possible one of the most most interesting camera ever to be made with Contax mount. No wonder!!!!!This one is tempting! But... I can't afford it.

These things normally don't have a market value. The ad appears to be mainly sitting there on eBay as a message saying "Boris Yamshchik has a GOI Leningrad for sale", inviting people to make offers. I don't expect him to actually sell the thing on eBay, the sales fees alone would be idiotic.
I'd never seen one of those before. It has a number of interesting features, such as the placement of the focus wheel, the three different flash sockets, and the separate slow speed selector on top.

This does not explain the high prices he charges for common items such as the common Kiev 4a he had a few months ago for $699.00

Two weeks later and still no sign of any interest in a Kiev trade with my Fed 3A,so I have added the option of a nice TLR,of which I unexpectedly find myself with two at present,
I live in hope for a few days more, and then I will have to canvas the Sellers offers on you know where.

Brian, you need a Kiev, if only as a test of character. You may as well have the complete Kiev experience, how else will you be able to discuss these gems with others of a similar affliction?
Fancy a 4 & 4a?

I could certainly do with a little 'character building'
Either model would fit the bill,if you have any to spare, let me know

I have had 4 Kievs at one point. The two fully usable 4's have been sold to Kully (hope he will forgive me). I had two others which had some problem which stopped me from using them. These problems have been cleared up (but that's not to say that these are perfect).
The major difficulties on my main Kievs that I experienced were light leaks (fairly easy to rectify) and the dreaded frame spacing issue. At frame counts over 24, frames could overlap. This did it for me, although I now believe that this is a winding (operator) issue.
Anyway, these were "left over" along with a j12, h103 & Menopta. You are right about the H103, it is a great lens.
Dave...

Dave, would you mind explaining the winding (operator) issue please? Perhaps I should just stick to rolls of 24 just in case?
Thanks from Ming

with my '84 4am, you only have the overlapping thing at 24 if it's a roll of 24; if you use a roll of 36 i believe you'd have the same problem at 36. i haven't figured it out yet, although there was an interesting discussion a few weeks ago about it. my main way of solving it is basically when it says end of the roll (regardless of what number), not to take any more shots.
very occasionally, i'll feel a jam at a random time, and i'll hear sockets rip. when this happens i just rewind the film and give up on the rest of the shots. it seems to work; i don't loose what i already had at the expense of trying to get more.
frankly, my 4am is a pain in the butt compared to my other cameras (including my 4.) if i didn't love my 4am so much i'm not sure it would still by my primary camera, but i do. there's just something about kievs that make them such a pleasure to shoot.
