I have been browsing hardware stores to find something in M3 metric thread to fit a shutter release and suitable to work as softrelease.
And I found it: a spare part of some old type of wood working equipment.
The only modification is to cut off part of the threads because more than 3mm is too much.

All that for less than 1 euro!

Now see if I like using this kind of softrelease...

Be careful with this,......remember that cable release thread is a special tapered shape, not a standard 3mm thread. Also, most shutter buttons are aluminium so a steel 3mm item will easily cut it's own 'new' thread, afterwhich a cable release will probably either not fit or be very loose since only the outside thread(s) will actually attach....
