also confused

I used Cameraleather to recover a Canon 7s. The cost was $37, and the leather fit beautifully; even the screw holes on the front lined up perfectly. I can't tell the difference between the new stuff and the original leather/leatherette on my other Canons. The only part I had to remove was the self-timer lever. Also, I can testify that taking off the old covering is the hardest part, involving lots of scraping and some ronsonol.

That looks very very nice, Frank! Congrats! But the M in the nude was already a beauty to begin with.

I bought from both Aki and Cameraleather.

- I found Aki's service much more responsive, receiving a reply within minutes almost while Cl's took a few days.
- Cl's range of leathers is much broader for a much wider selection of cameras and brands but I find the cut of Aki's coverings better. For me there was a slight but definitely noticeable difference in the cut of the leathers I got for my M2 (see here: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/674 ), especially in the corners where IMO it matters most.
- Aki's prices are much lower than Cl's, and his shipping is of equally low price.

If you ask me I'd say "Go with Aki" but others might have a different experience.

Are they both from AKI the Pink and The Gold or is one from Camera Leather ?

Handsome camera Frank!

Add another vote for Aki. I covered my Kiev in his, and I can't say enough good things about dealing with him. If you are considering it, don't hesitate.

And did you have to remove any levers or parts of the camera to strip and replace the cover?

No levers or parts of the camera were removed in the stripping and recovering of my camera. Like I said, it was easy and I'm going to do it again with my other M body with chipped vulcanite.

Does anyone know if it is "Golden Week" in Japan right now? I've emailed Aki-san and have not yet received a reply. Last time he replied within minutes! Everyone may be on holidays at the moment.
