Is there any film P&S that can focus closer than a meter or so?

I love my T2, but if I am standing relatively close to people, which is often the case with the T2, the autofocus always chooses something in the distance as the focal point, regardless of the fact that virtually the whole frame is occupied by a person or persons. :)

I know I am not going to have that much control over DoF with a P&S, but to be able to focus at about a foot would be awesome.

Any ideas?

I never had problem with my T2 although admittedly I didn't have all that long. One of my fave p&s cameras is the Pentax Espi Mini (UC-1). Not a high-end compact like the T2 but smaller, lighter and more pocketable. The lens is a 32mm f3.5 and very sharp. Focuses down to a foot and has never given me a problem focusing even in low light. Can be picked fairly cheaply too.

I love my T3! It goes everywhere I go and has a beautiful character.
Closest focus is 40cm (according to what I see in the manual focus mode), plenty close for portraits.
Expensive piece of equipment though, buit so nice to have around at all times!

The Rollei AFM35 will focus down to about 0.4m. It also has full manual control of the aperture and can manual focus [in fixed increments - 0.4m, 0.7m, 1m, etc].

I don't remember the exact distance, but I know that when I had a konica Hexar AF the min distance was about one arm length away (if I stretched and counted the tips of my fingers). (and i'm not all that big myself). Close enough for any shot I was doing w/ people in it.

thanks guys, appreciate the feedback.

I always considered the 35ti and the Hexar is a classic albeit somewhat chunky...
