I'm looking for a good alternative to velvia 50 iso, not so expensive but with high saturation in colours, also @ 100 iso
thanks

Kodak Ultra Color 100 is a good choice and pulls to 50 well (IMO). I don't do Kodak often, though, and never use this anymore. Reala is also an option, and at 80 it's really nice.

Sensia is a good slide film that can be easily cross processed for some really wicked colors.

Kodak Elitechrome Extra Colour (EBX100) sells for around 2/3 of the price of Velvia in the UK. As the name suggests, it has very highly saturated colour. In my opinion, it handles very bright conditions much better than dull ones. Velvia is probably better in that respect but again, it's only my opinion!

kodakchrome 64
Ektachrome 100VS
velvia 100
provia 100f
all this films have from medium to very high saturation, enjoy 🙂

there's nothing in the consumer level slide films that comes close to velvia 50 imho..
so you can pay a premium on velvia 100, or buy short dated or out dated film and take you chances on the colors...

or just scan cheap consumer slide film and pump up the saturation...

but yeah, velvia 50 is sweet...😀

is there a big difference between the old Velvia 50 and the new 100? I think I still have a roll of 50 sitting in my camera bag.

The Velvia 100 (not 100F) is actually quite similar to the 50, in my opnion. Technically it has lower grain (RMS value), though sharpness doesn't seem to be quite what the 50 was (which was famous for that). Color response is similar, saturation is close. If you underexpose slightly, you'll increase saturation a bit. So perhaps Velvia 100 @ 125 might look almost the same as Velvia 50.

I think Velvia 100 is a tad more yellow, too, but just a bit. This is based on about 9 rolls of the 100 after 20+ of the 50.

Thanks for the info!

I guess I'll have to use it sometime soon. It expired in July so it's not that old but I don't have it in the freezer so I better not wait too long.
