I'm truly sorry for bogging down this part of the forum with this noob question but I really couldn't find anything anywhere about filesize limits for uploads. Either limits in dimensions or MB restrictions.

I am also wondering about which section is most appropriate for critiques of photos. I am completely new to RF cameras and shot of roll of film the other day just to see if the one I bought last week actually works. It works! Now I have some shots that I would love to have some comments on.

Any help is appreciated.

hi smiley.. welcome to RFF!

I believe the file restrictions are in the neighborhood of 200k per image.. I generally size mine to 10 inches on the long edge, at 72 dpi.. and save with medium-high jpg compression

As far as I know there are no file size limits. I upload mine at 800 pixels on the longer side at max quality JPEG.
There are file size limits -- I hit them frequently because they're set too low. I upload 700-pixel images at less than max quality, with some toning, but if there's a lot of white area in the image, it pushes the image size past the limit. I have a photo of a dragon boat that is 186K and it gets rejected as too big. The limit is somewhere around 177K

Thanks very much for all the responses, the limit sounds pretty reasonable and I'll keep things around 100K anyway. One of the other forums I'm on has that file size limit so I won't have to wrap my tiny brain around a different set of limitations.

Not to belittle this fact but I would also like to know the proper place to upload for critique. I would rather not get stomped on as a noob and have to have messages moved etc.

Thanks for your help.

Smiley,
When uploading your image the file size restriction is posted at the bottom of the page (180k). Also if you want a critique of your image then choose the category "Rate my photo" this will add a rating scale of 1-10, when other members look at your pick they will be able to comment and give you a rating.
You can comment on other members photo's (rating scale or not) but some people want to be critiqued and some don't.

Good luck
Todd

ManGo: No, I'm definitely not from around these parts. I guess the "deer-in-the-headlights" look was not coming across via text. 😉

Todd: Thanks very much, that is exactly what I was looking for. Now to go and upload something for critique!

Cheers All!
