That's good. I like that! See, you Londoners can do it when you try.

It's precisely midnight. It's the large glass of excellent Central Coast Pinot Noir that's keeping me awake. I suspect Jenni's on something stronger.
The English boys will be drinking warm Fuller's or Courage perhaps...

The Fullers brewery is not far from where I live actually, I am though, currently enjoying a wee dram of Ardbeg.

Ardbeg. Excellent. My opinion of you is mellowing. If you get a chance, try some Rosebank. It's a now defunct lowland malt from my home town of Falkirk. Right at the opposite end of the spectrum from Ardbeg; it's light, floral and fruity.

Sounds interesting! I'll key an eye out for it. I have visited Falkirk once on the way to the Falkirk Wheel.

The distillery stood on the banks of the same canal as the Wheel, less than a mile away. It's now a horrific chain restaurant like a Beefeater or similar.

Round 2! Or is it 5 or 6?
A plonk is colloquial for "peat-digger", right?

It is an acquired taste. I acquired it with the first glass.
Try Lagavulin. It's peaty like Laphroaig but not as smoky. After you've acquired the taste for Lagavulin (assuming you haven't yet done so) then get Laphroaig another shot.

For those who have been around awhile in photography know about Bob Shell. Many, like me, know of him by way of his editorial position with Shutterbug.
The only reason we might discuss his problem here is because he is a photographer. Nothing wrong with that.
Relationships with models and sexual accusations is an important concern for any of us.
I have heard some say on other forums that the RFF is becoming like Pnet. I hope that's not true, but the censorship regarding this news item here causes me pause to think about that.

I don't have any "rights" here. I have a community that I like, and some things happening in it that I don't like. I have three options, in that order:
Currently I'm at #2. I don't see anything wrong with doing so, and I don't think someone can accuse me of not doing it in a civil manner. If Stephen or a moderator thinks I shouldn't voice my concern, or not the way I do, I'm ready to discuss that in an open and honest manner. I don't see where I'm claiming any "rights" by doing so.
- Keep my mouth shut
- Say what worries me
- Leave

Hi Philipp,
Actually there is a 4th option: INFLUENCE !
You are a very prolific contributor, with clear ideas, and kind manners. You have the respect and hearing of many people. Give rightfull credit to Stephen Gandy and he will take you into rightfull account.
RFF is not a socialist komuna, but a privedly owned website. Nevertheless to belittle RFF to a simple bussiness will be in my opinion a great mistake.
In its bussiness side, take for example Stephen's Cameraquest website. If the world is to be condemned to capitalism for the next millenium, I wish bussiness men would be like Stephen. He must earn, I am sure he loves it, but he still remains truthfull to something beyond profits: Photography.
I believe the same is with RFF. It is privedly owned but it is not just a benevolent dictatorship. Stephen wants it to grow and he is intelligent enough to understand the value of free exchange of ideas. I am sure too it is in his blood.
Kindly notice that the measure of free speech we have here and the level of friendships we make, I am not aware of its existance at any other website. We all have been lucky to find RFF breathing and kicking at some point of our lives.
Ceirtanly I do not like when a post of mine is deleted, or if i am hunted by a moderator, either in prived PM or publicly. But I also can raise my head and take a look of the whole. I am a loyal RFF builder, no matter who thinks the contrary, because I must give water to the tree under whose shadow I grow.
A loyal RFF must influence for good, and there are plenty of ways to do it. Sometimes you keep quiet, sometimes you send a polite PM, sometimes you strike on the table. Whoever really cares about RFF will appreciate it, non withstanding agreement or disagreement. And those who really care about RFF are the real core of the forum.
It is not a matter of reading the rules. It is about acting honestly with your heart and brains. Change your status from the three options and move into a position of resposibility within your limits as a member. Then, influence!
Cheers,
Ruben

On a total other note, I want to acknowledge the entertainment provided tonight by my relatives from across the pond. My kind either left or got booted from Scotland to oversee the Irish colony. Then some left to come over here.
If I were fortunate enough to have a boatil of Laphraoig tonight, I would pour a dram to salute those efforts tonight.
Thanks jenni, ernst, bill, and CVBR3M. Now I know I'm not the only one to post nonsense on here under the influence.

I agree totally with the closing of that thread.
Like Joe says, there wasn't any censoring going on.
No, the ever increasing my-judicial-system-is-better-than-yours posting were getting out of hand, and they didn't add to the discussion whatsoever.
As it seemed to deteriorate, and no other discussion was going on anymore, I think it was the right time to close the thread.
