Amedeo Adapter

I have a Canon 7. It seems like lots of great lenses are available at good prices in Nikon RF mount or Contax mount - does anyone have experience with the Amedeo adapters for Nikon or Contax to LTM?

My understanding is Amedeo doesn't make the LTM versions anymore. Only to M mount ( and m4/3, Sony, and Fuji ).

I've used the LTM version. The first one I got from him wasn't bringing up infinity focus exactly (it was only a slightly bit off, probably a few hundredths of a millimeter off on the focusing cam), so he sent me another one instead. They work well, I've used it with the 50mm f1.5 sonnar and also a jupiter 9 using the outer bayonet mount. The M mount version is probably less variable since it would presumably be abit thicker than the LTM version.

I've used the LTM-Contax. Quite well made, worked great. 🙂

I may have five Amedeo adapters, but they are in M mount.

I have the LTM-Contax as well. It works. The helicoid on mind binds slightly at one point, but I live with it. I use it on digital M with a Zeiss-Opton 50/1.5 Sonnar. Due to the focus shift of the lens at various apertures, I find I either have to use live view or guesstimate the correct RF coincidence offset for whatever aperture I'm shooting at (at the wider end). Not sure if it's a factor of the lens or the adapter, but correct RF coincidence seems to happen at f/2.8, which I believe is normal.

I got it a few years ago and there was a reason I got the LTM version rather than the M-mount version, even though I will only ever use it on an M-mount body, but no longer remember what the reason was....

Biggest hassle is turning the focus in the wrong (Contax/Nikon) direction. Not sure if he's changed that for the newer adapters?

One advantage of the LTM was using coded LTM adapters, otherwise with an M adapter there is only one possible code even if you use more than one focal length.

He confirmed that he is "not making the LTM model at this time" - so their virtues are a moot point. Thanks all for the responses!

I got two of his Nikon to LTM adapters early this year. They are very well made. I use them together with the Leica LTM to M adaptors to shoot Nikon RF lens on a M body. It's a pity he has stopped making them but I am glad I got them before he stopped production.
