An anniversary was missed

Me too......Damn, but I'm glad someone said that. I thought it was something to do with the wierd way I'm connecting to the net (VPN thru hotel connection, out thru work in the US back to Aus and THEN out to the www....)

lifted from pop photo site... and yes, that's our francisco they are talking about!!

...Nobody even posted on the Two Year Anniversary of this Canonet thread! (9/30/04)...

...I must take a moment to publicly thank Francisco and all my fellow Canoneteers for opening my eyes to the Ways of the Canonet...

As the Canonet GIII QL17 was my first RF, I applaud all those who brought me to this fine group. Happy Anniversay to us all :D

and i believe that francisco is peronally responsible for the cost of the little canon rising as it has.
before that post it was much cheaper to buy on ebay!! :)

I must admit, Joe, I'll have to take the flak on this one. I didn't do it alone, though; Mason Resnick helped a lot by featuring my thread in a Popular Photography issue in Dec. 02. ;)

However... man! Lotsa water under the bridge during those two years! At least in my side of paradise... Almost abandoned my SLR ways, purchased a Contax G1 kit, picked up a small collection of RFs which I later sold, got into Leicas and in debt... But I believe I found the "voice" I was looking for. Now, if I only had a "style"...

In any case, it seems I may have left a very small mark in the world... And all I wanted to do when I started that famous thread was to thank some forum members (Picture Guy and Djinn) for their recommendation to purchase a Canonet! :D

Not long ago, I went on eBay and finally found one... only to see it was pretty defective when it reached me (contrary to the seller's claims, the meter was defective and the shutterspeed ring was very stiff). Not until then did I realize how lucky I was when I got mine, because it came with a battery, instruction manual and lens cap.

Must admit too that I still have the e-mail message from the original seller, letting me know he had shipped the camera from his shop in TN.

Funny... how long have we been into this kind of cameras. And that Jorge, one way or another, found the way to start this site! :)

Well said Francisco. I think many of us can tell the same story. I actually still have that copy of Pop Photo as it is what drew me to the forums on their web site to figure out exactly what model Canonet I wanted to buy.
