As most of you know, I stop frequently at the local St Vinnies. Seems I don't stop often enough - earlier today I stopped in to check the pile. The one guy there who knows I like odd ball cameras said that I'd just missed this "strange canon" they'd had. You know with a lever on the bottom... :bang: :bang: :bang: Mere minutes ahead of me someone got a VT Deluxe.

For $5.00.

:bang: :bang: :bang:

From the sound of the guy who grabbed it, he's a user so that's a plus.

$5!!!!!

Wow, that is amazing. I have to start stopping into the local thrift shops and stuff, somewhere there is a real deal waiting for me.

That was what I had hoped too, but the clerk said it had the slow speed dial on the front. 🙁

VT. Ah, man. That sucks. Sorry! For what it might be worth, my local GW and SA only ever have Time-Life 35mm cameras and broken Kodak disc cameras.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Most of what they get here is of that ilk - plus the occasional 828 pony or Argus. But they also get Spotmatics, the occasional Mamiya 35mm SLR, and sometimes even more interesting things like the Voigtlander Prominent I bought for Brian Sweeney, so I do stop there often. Just not always often enough. Ah, well. Keeps me honest 🙂

I used to shop there for all my LP music - mostly 1970's "Bachelor Pad" space-age music, which I love. But I've been informed that not all share my taste in music. Sigh.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Those crummy little Time-Life cameras? Oh man, I used to work for thier book division, we had those in the employee store and they sat for years. Then they tried to give them away. No go.

William, I feel your pain. Before I moved to San Diego from Alexandria, VA. I saw a VT at a local shop where I was eyeballing a QL17 Giii. The shop owner wanted 90 for the QL that needed some TLC. I passed. Then I saw a VT in the case. He wanted 175, I only had 90 in my pocket. It was the night before my drive westward. I'm sure it's gone.

Keep watching, you've been lucky before I'm sure.

William - is this the Willy Street St. Vinnies? If you don't want to answer that I understand - since I live close by... 😛

Yep, that's the place, Scott. I don't mind missing things like that if they end up with someone who is going to use it though. Check them out occasionally - I keep hoping that they'll think some old LTM lenses are M42 and price them that way

and then the story goes on. the guy got on the bus and left the damn thing on the seat when he got off, with his wallet. so now he is sad for losing his $5 plus the entire wallet.

don't think too much of this thing. it's only a camera...
