my brother, who is an avid photographer and fly fisherman (like myself) just informed me of this photographer's exhibit

http://www.charleslindsay.com/upstream.html

I don't think he works with rangefinders (and honestly, I don't think half his photos could be taken with one).. but his work is stunning.. even more so if you think of fly fishing as another passion

Thanks for the link. Looks like a nice book. I've scared a few trout over the years. Caught a couple too. McGuane is a good writer. I've read a few of his books. I think James Wollcott called him a "Two-fisted he-man novelist".

I emailed the photographer to find out what equipment he uses.. I was very surprised at his chosen setup.. a classic Rolleiflex.. I suppose medium format is necessary for the exhibit-size prints.. makes me start rethinking about that Mamiya 7ii I had talked myself out of

Hmm, first thought that went through my head when I saw those was 'Nice Rolleiflex images.' - really!

What made you think that?

Hmm, I can't really pinpoint it - square format, a sharp-yet-soft quality in the images - more of a feeling than knowledge... Might just as well been a Hasselblad with 80mm Planar, and I would have been wrong. ;)

I actually thought the same but it was easy for me to identify the Rolleiflex signature since I use the same setup for MF. Only that I'm not as good with it ;)
