You may be right that at the top you can do as you please being a master and all. To get there I bet those same true masters sold a lot of sausages to the sausage eaters just to make ends meet.

Today I counted the film sorts at the Freestyle's, only 35mm format and only 36-exposure rolls. Here are they:

39 different sorts of B&W films...
15 different sorts of color negative films...
17 different sorts of color slide films...

When I started with photography in the heydays of film (1960) , we did not have this many sorts, trust me.. Further they were never that cheap compared to our buying power.. (Oh, many years I used HP3 30m rolls to cut my own film)

I started with digital, a 50d and now I am holding an m3 everyday. Who cares how digital does. Most important is to make a picture with the camera and not to make a picture with the computer.
