An interesting Youtube video on the Japanese love affair with cameras

I discovered a nice series of videos on Youtube called "Begin Japanology" which covers a wide range of subjects on life in and culture of Japan. Here is an interesting video article on the Japanese love affair with cameras.

If you are into all things Japanese (as I pretty much am) there are other videos on everything from Japanese swordmaking to Japanese women's nylons (believe it or not).

Thanks Peter. I'd definitely would fit in during the segment that showed mostly middle-aged men and pensioners hovering around the display booths.

It was relatively interesting when they weren't talking about the history of SLRs (which they did not detail very accurately anyway). I liked the parts about camera culture much more. In the same series there is a very interesting episode about clocks and watches.

You know I watched a few other videos and found this interesting segment about an old lady documenting her village before it was destroyed to make way for a dam. If I'm hearing correctly she shot 20,000 rolls of film!
