Stephen.... don't you have a Barnack that was "re-colored" by CRR Luton? While the high dollar price tag that people are willing to pay for a original camera with a little WWII engraving might be gone would it not still be worth $1300?

Nope, no CRRs here. I do have a standard chrome IIIg given a grey hammertone finish by Shintaro.

The OP's IIIC is a pretty camera. At $1300 it will likely find buyers. However that particular camera would likely be worth more today if it still had its original finish.

It would have to be in very poor condition not to be worth more than $1300.

Well, a "recently" CLA'd III-c stepper body, especially having been serviced by CRR Luton, should be worth $300-$400, paint-job and Luftwaffe markings notwithstanding, and a clean Summitar with flawless glass should be worth another $300-$500, so I'd suggest the camera & lens in question is reasonably worth $600-$900 ?

This seems to be the high end of the range for ready-to-use III-c & Summitar ( again, military markings and paint jobs notwithstanding. ).

And if you find the right WW-II enthusiast out there, who wants a Luftwaffe Barnack, you might be able to name your price... who knows... 😕

I'm thinking that both wartime lens and CLA'd & repainted wartime camera are worth more than your estimate here.
Standing by my initial estimate of said USD 1300, with lens included.

Hi,

FWIW, when I had a Saturday job I realised that a lot of rich customers never used the expensive stuff because they were worried about damage, rain even and so on. And they usually had a cheapo knock about one they used and enjoyed.

So the question is, will you pay a lot for it and put one or two films in it and dust it a lot in the display cabinet or go out and use it regardless of how much value you are knocking off of it, especially if you drop it and tread on it by mistake...

Pretty and rare stuff is nice to look at but seldom gets used, imo. I'd admire the camera but let some one else have the pleasure of buying it. And I'd go on using the rough, battered old things I own and not worry too much about anything else.
