An urgent call to all professional photographers, illustrators, visual artists!

Thanks for the heads up and the greetings Phil ! 🙂

I'm sure checking those links, including those ones you provided Bill, thank you too !

Well, this is getting mighty frustrating.

None of you feel concerned about this?

Is it the fact that you might think everything will be "all right" in the end?!
You think you won't be affected?

I must say I remember this place to be full of people who CARE, be it about other folks, or taking pictures, or even darn cameras.

I remember people posting articles about police harrasment, about photogs getting arrested for nothing, photogs being sued, YOU NAME IT!

SO WHERE HAVE YOU GONE?

If you disagree with this bill SPEAK UP, it won't go away if you just sit it out!

Here's a small update and the final version of the prolouge:

I feel like talking to a wall..
Cheers

Felipe, I'm hearing you. Please don't assume that I do not care because I have not signed your petition. I do care, and I am taking the action I feel is most appropriate with regard to this. I was actually aware of this some time before you posted, but I was glad that you did, and I am glad to see you taking action.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Bill,

Maybe my last post ended up sounding a little too vague.
I know the are members here who care about their rights and speak up if they feel something's fishy, and you know that includes you.

As already suggested there might also be a bunch of people already aware of OW, already organized and/or already taking appropriate action, and that also includes you. 🙂

But like on lightstalkers and photo.net, there are 90%+ members who don't give a shit about OW even if they will be affected.

All this "act now, the government is eating your copyright" bullshit is absolutely ambigous if put into the context of "real issues", but nonetheless it makes me angry to see so many people who should care lurking, even on that issue.

I won't go into detail about what I am currently experiencing with german photog orgs, but let's just say it's been a familiar experience.

So my appologies if I'm coming off a little too passionate (read offending..), guess you don't notice this until *after* you've snapped.. 🙂

BTW. Credit to whom credit belongs! I 'd probably feel good about it, but the LS petition is not at all my idea and doing.
Jon, Gayle and Sion are doing all the hard work. I'm really just the messenger, if one with an opinion and I'm going to bed now.

Best,
Phil

I sent my signature this evening.

A law that legalizes theft, huh? Those little sissies need a big lashing this time!

Bill, do you know of a program that will spider the web and automatically find your stolen pictures?

I sense your frustration Phil. I think we should have a Poll to see how RFF members feel about OW? To sign or not sign. I can't see a reason why anyone should NOT want to sign because in the long run it helps everybody. There seems to be many polls about all types of gear why not one about something a bit more important in the sense that what happens to the photograph once you've taken it?
