A tragedy and a lesson for everyone in every country using nuclear energy. I doubt privately owned facilities in a 'for profit' world will be any better than the state run ones.
Unfortunately for Mr Anatoly Rasskazov, the event wrecked his health and he received no compensation. His country acted reprehensibly to someone who went beyond the normal parameters of duty to an employer. Even in a state "for and by workers" the little guy is at risk. There's a lesson there too.
