Nothing wrong a good triplet lens, which the Novar Anastigmat is. Congrats.

"Only" a Novar? I started a thread (a good while back) asking people what the best of the 3-element lenses were and the Novar was among the very top lenses. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54549

With the aperture at 1:8 or smaller there is almost no difference between the Novar and the Tessar. I made some testshots with the 2. See the results here :
