We're all light!
Wyeth, who died today at age 91, was probably one of the first painters I was aware of by name. As a youngster, I took to his work almost immediately, and this enthusiasm never wavered. I do find it interesting, and occasionally amusing, that during the the whole modern/post-modern tumult within the art world over the last several decades, Wyeth would be the subject of rather intense controversy by way of works which seem relatively pedestrian at an uninformed glance. Some critics sniffed about Wyeth being little more than a glorified illustrator (invoking the legacy of Andrew's father, N.C. Wyeth), but I always regarded that reading as narrow and callous at best.
I was lucky to get ticket to a retrospective of Wyeth at the Whitney a handful of years back, and enjoyed it immensely, especially for getting a good look at works I've never known of at all, let along in-the-canvas.

Well-known
I have seen N.C Wyeth's work up close and it is beautiful. Andrew's work is equally beautiful and delicate. I did not know he died, what a legacy. I visited the home and studio at Chadds Ford a few years ago.
RIP Andrew.
