I just got back from vacation, and took my trusty Hasselblad 501CM along. It will be a bit before my film is back and scanned, but in the meantime, I also took along my iPhone and shot with the Hipstamatic app throughout the week.

I don't really want to get into the debates over the merit of the faux-vintage fad and the Hipstamatic/Instagram photography, but it may come up. I use it as I find it easy to use, and fun. It really speaks to the initial intent of photography, in my mind; the Kodak Brownie was created to give people small prints to share with friends. It wasn't meant to be the pinnacle of photography, but fun, easy, and social. Anyway, that's my view

I'd love to hear your thoughts, but mostly I'm just trying to pass the time until my 15 rolls of 120 arrive back from processing!

I'll be down there Friday. Hopefully will not be any hotter than Nashville. So, how was using a Hasselblad on vacation?

Maybe I'll go on a wild hair and pack an RF and a bunch of film for my trip. Does no good sitting in the fridge for months and months.

Yeah, bring some. I loved using the Hassy; I don't often travel with it due to size and bulk, but since I was just hanging on the beach, I figured I should bring it. I go to AMI every summer, so I have the freedom to shoot whatever I want and not worry about "getting that shot" from AMI.

I'm glad I did. Gave me something to do :)

I'll be going there in Feb.. Is film easy enough to find there. I'll be there 3 weeks. I plan on bulk loading plenty of Tri-X, but I'm a little concerned about color.

Haven't been to Anna Maria since 1982. Looking at your snaps, doesn't look like it's changed that much since then. Lovely place and nice shots you got.

Best,
-Tim

Yeah it hasn't changed much over the years that I have been there. Thanks for the compliment.
