It's been said there are two types of pilots: those who've landed with the wheels up and those who will land with the wheels up.
Not sure about that.
Having an M3 with collapsible 50/2 Summicron, a III and IIIf with 50/3.5 collapsible Elmars, in 30+ years I've yet to fail to extend them. I just have a regular routine before a shot where I ensure the lens is extended.
However, I'm usually a slow-paced photographer.
