I would like to inform all that following a day of "discussions" I think we are ready to move forward and to start working on the second RFF book. I remember the excitement I felt when the first book was published, and I am very optimistic that we can match or exceed that feeling in the coming months.

Let me introduce the team working on this project, Gene W, RayPa, Backalley and little old me. Of course, don't let me forget all of you.

We have talked a lot about making sure that this book is consistent with the first in look and basic layout, so a lot of the questions we had are already answered. We will address some more specifics in short time, but first I want to solicit your participation in this project.

We are looking for 2 photographs from 50 members. All photographs must be taken with a RF camera. Since we are increasing the number of participants, we welcome those involved in the first book to join this project. In the event that we have more interest than we have open spots, we will cut book one participants down to 1 photo each, or cut them totally if necessary. Also, as we want this to be a book by and from our membership, if we have overwhelming participation, we will make the final list based on total number of forum and gallery posts. We realized in our conversations that there is not perfect way to make these difficult decisions if they need to be made, but we feel this is as fair a way to make them as any other.

So, would you like to join us in this project?

Here is what you need to do. I will start a list, “first come, first serve” with the considerations noted above based on emails you send to me. Please send a message to me at:

rmeliso <at> gmail <dot> com

You need to include the following information
1) Your full name as you will like it to appear in the book
2) Your RFF name
3) Your email address
4) The country in which you live (this will be in the book)

Then what? Go out and start shooting. We have decided that keeping the 8x10” format is best, so you will have to submit two photographs in JPG format, 300dpi sized to 7" on the long side. Please clean (remove dust and spots), but no borders, and no sharpening. Toning of B&W images is fine. We will do the borders and sharpening at our end so we'll have a consistent look to all the images.

Along with your images we will need the technical data (Camera, Lens, Film, Exposure) and a brief description or explanation. Also, please start working on a short bio for the book.

No deadlines at this time, but consider that we need this stuff as soon as possible and get to work. We will provide some deadlines shortly.

Here we go folks. I am pretty excited about this and I know you are too. Thanks for keeping the interest in projects like this alive.

I applied. Just hope the deadline isn't too early. I arrive in FL where my RF should be waiting for me on December 10! Then I'll get to work immediately. NY about 17 December. North of England until just before Christmas. London over the holidays, then back to FL. If I can't get two decent shots in that time I'll take up shove ha'penny.

Yes, everyone please send me an email now with your name and stuff. We will worry about the photographs in due time.

When Joe comes around we will ask that he puts a sticky on this thread so it will remain visible.

Email (alongwith a couple of questions) sent to you Rover!

Cheers,

Do the pictures have to be "new"? Could they be recent? I'm asking because I already have one in mind that was taken back in Spring. If not, that's ok.

But, do keep in mind that Winter is approaching (in the Northern Hemisph.) and it's already difficult to go out and take pictures in some places, like here where we've been getting wind gusts of 40+ mph.
