ok..
Lens carrier M (here... http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/leica_m6.shtml )+ rapidwinder = bad idea? no?
well, I figured you could make your alternate lens a grip- goes where the tripod socket goes.
your thoughts- likely not a marketable product, but is it even practical?
cheers,
Dragunov

Dragunov - the lens carrier was a dumb idea in my mind, even early on the two lens set-up for Leica M2's! How to ensure that not only did you bust the camera and lens you were using - you also crashed the two stuck on the bottom!!
I find that by the time you added the lenses + camera + lens on camera - you might just as well carry a Nikon F with F36 motor and battery pack. It simply did stress the strap-lugs a lot.
Leica's own version from the 90's only had provisions for one lens - but I found it too clumsy and the one time I used it I managed to "crumple" the hood on a 90f2.8 Elmarit when it hit a doorframe in the car!
I think the only thing I will change on the Rapidwinder is to make 1 with a corkscrew instead of a lever!!!!

Dear Tom,
Seconded! The weight alone was ridiculous.
Even so, it was better than the tri-lens turret (I had one of those too, and swapped it for a new 90/2).
Cheers,
Roger

Does that mean we could screw a camera into a bottle of wine instead of carrying a mini tripod?

Na ya drink half the wine then you don’t need the tripod

I second the motion for a corkscrew. A glass of wine and I'm good down to a quarter of a second. Seriously tho, I've been tempted by these things so glad to hear the problems involved. Thanks All. Joe
