Hi again everyone,

The ZI I purchased a few months ago (off here, actually) is showing some significant wear on the grip. I kept hearing about Cameraleather and am thinking of placing an order shortly, but I'm unsure as to what to get.

I really want that Cobalt goat skin one (http://www.cameraleather.com/colors/cobalt_kid.htm), but I don't think it'd look good on my black ZI. I'm thinking I'll ultimately have a mix of black and chrome/silver lenses and later a silver ZI with that cobalt skin.

Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions on combinations? Photos would be appreciated. I thought I might get the bright red lizard (http://cameraleather.com/colors/red_lizard.htm) or the granite kid skin (http://cameraleather.com/colors/granite_kid.htm). Suggestions for more discreet colors will also be welcomed.

I know that it ultimately doesn't matter since I can't usually see the grip anyway, but I'm trying to "dress up" my rangefinder(s) a bit more. Plus, something about rangefinders and their looks seems to call out for unique grips, at least to me.

Thanks much!

Make it some sort of black covering. Otherwise it will be hard to sell. Many of us have suffered from that mistake. Good luck.

I wanted to order a "custom" skin for my SWC (coz they don't have it listed) but they don't reply to my emails.
Neither does that Japanese dude :(

I recently had black Griptac put on a Leica IIIc with crumbling vulcanite. I was doubtful at first but I like it very much and it looks good too. Joe

How hard are they to remove? If they're not bad to get off (I can't image them being impossible to get off) than order the blue one (and get a blue soft release for the camera to match) and order a cheap black griptack as well.

If you ever need to sell it or you hate the blue (I think it would look good one a black camera with black lenses) than you can always put the black griptack on. In comparrison to what you paid for the camera (or what film costs these days) the cameraleather isn't really that expensive (and half the cost is shipping anyways)

Their site says they were flooded... might have other prios than e-mail at the moment.

Personally, I am thinking about recovering my Yashica 44 with grey griptac.

I don't believe goatskin is very tough. I had a goatskin cover put on my OLD Nikkormat and it wore VERY quickly. The replacement grip tech looks new after much much usage.

Sorry, no black camera.

Thanks for all the responses! Seems most people love the griptac, which would save me some money.

I am surprised that raymond had issues with the durability of goat skin/kid skin. Is that a one off problem or do other people think it isn't durable?

Also, how is the durability of lizard skin? The M3 with it looks pretty awesome.

Not sure about the blue with the black. I think I definitely prefer it on silver...course I'd need a silver camera first, haha.

That Indian Red Goat skin would look great on my Olympus 35SP...
I was thinking of going red, thanks to that Canon & Rollei I don't see why not...those are nice...

I love the Cobalt blue but I'm not brave enough for it...

Hey, Joe...what's that "Red" on the Nikon...???

Haven't used it too much, but I think it is very durable. But pretty slippy. If you need grip, it's not your choice.

The goat skin doesn't make a durable appearance to me, too.

I like Morgans photo of the black Nikon F with the grey paradise snake:

Griptac!!!! I put that on my black ZI and it is fantastic. It's holding up really well, even in the heat of Texas, and my hands sweat a lot.

I had a grey (gray) paradise snake cover on a chrome Oly SP and I was underwhelmed by it. It looked fake/ imitation to me. Maybe it looks better on a black body.
