Another GAS attack, FED 2 parts camera

It's as beat up as it looks, effectively a parts body (dismantling as I type this).
The diopter adjustment lever is missing and there's a wad of cotton under the rewind knob (if that was to keep the knob up it failed, and there is a piece of I-don't-know-what jammed under the rangefinder prism.

The Industar-26 is very well used as the distance and DOF markings are worn off, with very shallow remains of the DOF scale lines visible when the lens is set to minimum distance.

What I can salvage off it, mainly the top and bottom covers, back and knobs, will be stripped and painted black for another FED 2.

Sure, I could buy one that's already painted black, and after buying another body and materials it would be cheaper to do so, but it just wouldn't be the same as building it the way I want it.

i like Fed 2A for the clean look without selftimer and a flash sync. It also has a nice Leica-style knobs. Nice buy IMO .. i'd use also the chassis, vulcanite looks ok and there are no 'extra holes'.

That's what swung my decision for this, the lack of "extras" on it. I'd love to keep the chassis, but a previous owner stripped the threads on one location securing the top, as well as where the rangefinder is screwed down.
I'm going to look for another model to combine the parts with.

Nice buy! Do you know the meaning of the inscription on the top ?? I am always curious with those inscriptions, they are always part of a story...

I might have what you are looking for... I've got 3 parts body shells with corresponding shutter crates, top and bottom plates and they are already de-chromed (thanks to Dr.Jekyll abilities of misok 😉) !
And many other parts...

these are from the 4 parts bodies I bought from Kim Coxon. I managed to build one working camera from the parts, but many parts are missing so I'm not able to build another...

I already started one funny project with the parts: building a perfect FED. First disassemble it to the last screw, and then start cleaning and assembling slowly, patiently... but my efforts were stopped by lack of parts.

Sounds like what any good rebuild should be about. 🙂

I'm looking at this as a slow project, short of a replacement chassis and the missing parts I'll be going over this batch of parts cleaning and refurbishing for rebuild. But I'll be sure contact you and see what you have available.
