another good printing session

I've just come out of a 2 hour printing session in my darkroom. It was a productive night. Besides the obligatory "family" type prints made, and a couple "prints for profit" wedding photos, I managed to get 4 of my personal images printed. They are all hanging by clothes springs from string I have strung across my darkroom's ceiling. The first one of my own images (actually they are all my own images, I mean my personal work) is dry and I've scanned it and uploaded it into my gallery. Rainy Day at the Cottage is another image from a series: Down by the Dock. I have 3 other really good prints that are probably dry by now, but it's 11:30 pm here now and I have to get up for work fairly early tomorrow and face 30 9/10 year-olds all day. It's pretty hard to fake it in front of 30 children as they are a very perceptive group. I can't wait thought, to post 3 more images tomorrow evening. Check it out. I'm in a very productive period in my artistic endeavours right now. I can attribute much of that to this forum which is very positive and supportive. Thank you all!

I know what you mean, Frank; it can be very satisfying, and I'm glad it is for you. Two hours seems short, given time also for setup and cleanup.

I haven't used my enlarger for some years, and I'd been thinking I probably won't again. Do digital printing instead. But there's something about the hands-on process, the craft, that is attractive.

Also, to use large prints as measures of the qualities of film and lens (for comparisons), an optical silver print is more direct and useful, seems to me. A digital print is subject to the quality and resolution of the scan.

I found darkroom color printing frustrating, but that's probably where the digital tweaking can be the most useful. For B&W, the darkroom beckons.

Guys, I'm really looking forward to getting my darkroom working again soon...
I just moved, and in my new apartment want to use the kitchen as darkroom - I'll just have to figure out how to seal a window light-tight. Finally I will have running water in my dark-room, in my old apartment, which I shared with 3 other students, I had to carry them from my water-less room (the dark-room was underneath a high-rise bed...) to the bathroom for washing.
For me, wet printing is at least half of the fun in photography; I think I don't have an eye for color pictures, but with B&W you can do so much in the darkroom (and I don't particularly like sitting in front of a computer, futzing around with Photoahop...).
I also like to explore non-standard techniques, esp. lith-printing.

Good news/bad news

I took my prints into work today and showed them to some of my coworkers. They liked them very much and gave me much encouragement. The bad news is that I left them at work, so I won't be able to upload them into the gallery until tomorrow evening.
