Me... :D

But I promise I'll never do it again... Serious! This wasn't just a new thing. It was an upgrade, an unbelievable bargain from the fleabay...

Summicron 90/2, third version, IB, w/caps & filters. Looks gorgeous... and it'll be lighter and leaner than my current 'cron 90.

I was hard at work... did what Brian recommended once: split screen, refresh several times... the works. Auction ended just an hour ago. This lens usually sells for a lot more but I bagged for $679 (round figure).

Seems I'll be selling something soon... ;)

Sorry... wanted to let you know. My sweet wife—God bless her—would only ask me why is that I want another lens...

Joe... some time ago, an acquaintance of ours asked her (in my presence) what she was doing about my purchases.

"I just let him buy... if it makes him happy. Someday he'll snap out of it."

Well... that was some time ago.

But I'm serious. I'm going clean. This is my last lens. In fact, I cleared all the items/auctions in my watch list! :)

You believe me?

[proud smile]Well... I did clean up my watch list... [/proud smile]

Except for a Summicron 35 and a black Leica MR meter! :)

Just wanna know at what price they go...

Well Francisco, now you know what a Summicron 90/2, third version can go for! :) Enjoy!

So you finally found it eh ? :) Congrats my friend !

Now better go sell the old one, wouldn't be easy to justify keeping both :D

Congratulations.

On the understanding wife, of course. Wise choice to marry her.

I'll bet she is missing the simpler, earlier days of the Canonet!

Now Francisco, you have that "other" 90 Summicron. You know that is not just a lens at this point, it is now an asset. An asset that can be traded:D. I don't think it is time to clean your watch list, it is time to make a wish list. What might you be able to barter for with a 90 Summicron as your offer?

I'm trying to go dry, Rover... Don't put ideas in my mind! ;)

Seriously... even though I don't need to justify the older lens, I'll sell it because I don't have use for two long 'crons. Besides, I had contemplated using it to finance the newer purchase.

Any takers here? :) It's a very good lens! :D

I also have some equipment unfairly neglected because of my Leica/Nikon passion. Seems my annual shelf-clearing event is coming through this year anyway...

Now... I've sent payment, also went for the "no payments until 2006" bit about Paypal Credit (applied and got approved within seconds), and now... I want my new toy.

Oh, well... Here comes "the wait" part of the deal...

Does the interest accumulate despite the abeyance of payment? I took advantage of a deal like that years ago to buy a new computer system, and then in January I was (naively?) surprised to discover that the balance due had been growing all the time by the addition of interest. So, due to collecting more interest than had payments been made, this is a financial benefit to the financing company, as well as a temporary convenience for you!

Doug,

Actually... I'm planning on making payments before that time arrives. According to their offer, they'll bill you after your purchase and the interest starts running after January 06. It's a GE Card, and I took one deal like this before, with them, on a GE Card exclusive for health services. After a $3,000 initial charge, I started making payments before the year were out and didn't pay a dime of interest. However, I did notice how their monthly statements showed what I would be paying in interest if I were not covered by the terms of their offer.

That's why I went into the deal. It's basically the same company.

Now... if I see something fishy, I'll let you know. Thanks for the caveat! ;)

Congratulations on the new toy Francisco! I always feel soooo good when I get a new toy.

Muwaahaahaaha! The Dark Side Strikes again....

Interesting! That's a better no-payment-til-later than I had... The interest built while the payments were deferred, and by the time payment began the balance was notably higher than it had started, and it took several payments before the balance due was down to the original price.

FWIW, this deal was for a new Macintosh with 128k of RAM and 8.77MHz 8-bit processor, no hard drive, one internal 400k floppy, an external second 400k floppy drive, a dot-matrix printer, and Microsoft Word 1.02... The year was 1984 and the above package (whose power and abilities amazed me) ran some $4200. Good to know this kind of deal has improved along with the improvements in Macintoshes! :)
