Just back from Florida. If you have not been watching the weather lately, well, all of the water in the world has fallen on central Florida in the past couple weeks. Well, a little rain, no big deal, a torrential down pour, for days.... I was in no mood to bring out any big fancy kit. But my (err, um) Canon G7 worked damn well. So, why do I need a little P&S. Cause my wife has declared the G7 for herself. COOL!!!!!!
OK, so I am stuck in the G10, LX3, DP2....... wait for the new Oly m43 just in the event it is nice debate.
The G7 is a nice camera. With the RAW capture in the G10 that will be a real killer. LX3 great lens, great low light performance. DP2, big sensor, but fixed lens.
Oh, the search begins.

Well-known
I have the LX3 and have never owned a better point and shoot. There is a reason they are always sold out I guess.

Another G10?

Speak of the Devil
I went with a Ricoh GX100, 10MP, RAW, external VF, 24-72mm zoom, stepped zoom (so it kind of feels like having primes) cool Ricoh LX-1 lens cap, etc.
Only paid $300 boxed from Adorama used (the deals are around)
Oh, it will focus 1cm @ 24mm and 4cm at 72mm which is the closest I know of in a P&S
Here are a few samples from the camera
