I have just sent the seller the following message:

Hi - your camera is a FED 2 manufactured in Ukraine sometime in the 1950s and later adorned with Leica marks.

I wonder if I will get a reply.

My money says it probably won't sell and, whilst not defending the guy, he may genuinely believe it's a Leica.

My logic says that someone who knows nothing about cameras won't pay that much and someone who does know would never be fooled by such an obvious and poor fake. It's not even an almost-lookalike early FED 1! There's also a "Leica" Zorki 2C on offer on there which the seller claims is "the usual Zorki 1 fake Leica". At least he's not claiming it's a genuine one though, even if he's still got the model all wrong!

Don't hold your breath would be my advice. Notice he has private feedback too...guaranteed to be hiding something IMO.

I almost feel sorry for the seller, almost.

Then again, the Maltese Falcon movie prop sold at auction for more than it'd be worth if it was made of solid gold...

The film in it was used to take pictures of Piltdown Man.

Rumor has it it was once owned by Elvis.

These rare fakes were made for use by war time Soviet spys behind Nazi lines.
(I'm gonna save this one, in case I ever sell my fed)
