I just got back from a street fair held biannually here in Tucson and one of the vendors was an artist who did "photo realistic" art. From ten feet you would swear they were large color photographic prints (and very good ones at that). One that caught my eye was a side view of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The painting was about 2x3' (landscape) and the detail was amazing. You could see clear reflections in the chrome of the air cover and exhaust pipes of the imagined surroundings within the painting. Now, sitting here I don't recall if there was a reflection of an imagined photographer in it or not but it would not surprise me if there were. Very impressive work in a style that I have not seen in person before today. And a style that I much prefer to the "throw paint at the canvas and call it art" mentality that I unfortunately have seen often over the years. I may go back tomorrow and buy one of his smaller prints just to show support to his efforts.

remrf,

What festival is it? I'd like to catch it in two years time (i.e. next biennial).

Oh how I'd like to be down in Tucson right now. The weather here in upstate NY is okay - but I wish I were down there at the house right now! 😎

Its the "4th Avenue Street Fair" . An event that has been going on for about 25 plus year now.
For those not familiar with Tucson 4th Avenue is one of the older areas in the city and was/is considered the "Hippy district". The buildings mostly date back to the 20's and 30's and it is a visually interesting area for "street shooting" which is why I was down there today.
