I believe thats the same place. Its in Cabazon, Ca. There are two large dinosaurs, a brontasaurus (sp?) and a t-rex. Its about a 45 minute drive from my house. A friend and I were bored one Sunday afternoon so we decided to drive down there to take stupid photos like the one in my avatar. 🙂

Yeah, its the same place. Those dinosaurs are also featured in the movie The Wiz (I think thats the name of it), about some kid thats really good at Nintendo or something of that sort.

Though black is professional (like my pristine Leica CL and my new Bessa R3A), chrome would be delightful but titanium would be tantalizing. 😎

The Hexar RF, for me, offers the perfect combination: titanium, coated by sturdy, warm-to-the-touch (even when half-buried in snow...yes, I've confirmed this) black enamel. A black Ikon would be welcome in my camera bag.

Heck, I thought that was the point. 😉


FWIW, my HRFs only show a wee bit o' paint wear after four+ years of relatively hard use. That enamel must be relatively thick.

Is the black Ikon's paint chromed, laquered or enameled? (I forget, and am currently too busy/lazy to look it up.)

barrett, i think the hexar rf's soul brother is really just the hexar af, due to the rarity of the 35/2 m-hexanon. the zeiss ikon is more like mary ann to leica's ginger.

Won't argue (much) with you there, having been a heavy (and happy) Hexar AF user for five years. And I'll have to reserve judgement until I get some personal mileage with an Ikon. But Zeiss/Cosina seem to have gotten a lot right, if only from a distance. And I was a bit hotter for Mary Ann anyways! 😀
