Another question about patch brightness

I suspect that the patch on my M3 is dim, but I don't know if it's a severe problem or it's only dirt inside. Am I wrong that if something bad happened to the mirror I should see only the "second" image dim and the first one should appear ok? I see that the two images are equally bright, if so can I assume that it just needs a cleaning? Thanks!

MIght well be time to give that machine an oil change, grease job, and tuneup! When was the last time it had service? 🙂

A cleaning job may do the trick but it is also possible that resilvering of prism in the rangefinder is needed.
Unfortunately there is no easy way of telling which is the case.
I had mine serviced by Sherry but rangefinder was still dim so I sent it to CRR Luton in UK to get it resilvered.
The cost of resilvering was about US $300.
