Another way to BAN photographers

Ah but it is true. They now have to pass the senate bill because the senate will not vote for theirs. Then it goes to the president for signature and then we we have a law.

Senate "promises to reconcile" the differences after it is law. Believe that? They will be on to some other disaster like cap and trade or making illegals citizens if they been here 48 hours.

If you would read something other than mainstream news you would pick up on the Chicago thug politics brought to Washington. I am near Chicago, and it is exactly the same thing I have been seeing for 60+years. Bend and twist the law to get what you want.

It may not fly, but it definately under consideration by the house parlimintarian. But if they do it, there will be a constititional challenge.

I suppose you want the kind of health care like UK where they put old hospitalised people in a cold room so they get pneumonia and die. I know a UK doctor. That is how you save money and ration care. If you think you will get the same care in the future as now, you are in for a rude awakining.

How well do you know the UK doctor? And do you know any other UK doctors? I know several, including old school friends. Having been ill in both the USA and the UK, I know which I'd prefer. So does my wife, and she's American. For that matter, my sister-in-law is a doctor in the USA: from some of her stories I could produce even worse alarmist drivel about the USA than you have just regurgitated about the UK.

You have, to be blunt, fallen for loony right-wing propaganda. The UK is a VERY long way from perfect, but the USA is even further. If you want good medical care, look at France. And at socialized medicine.

Cheers,

R.

Indeed, Roger, in triplicate.

[Engaging Rant Mode]

I sometimes hang around a local blog where a handful of those folks spoil the day for everyone else. Everything is filtered through their ideology (such as it is) and any piece of reality that they don't like is discarded. Any source that accurately reports something they don't like is categorized as part of the "mainstream" media and a fellow-traveler in the great conspiracy to ruin everything.

They know European health care is a failure because they know someone who knows someone, not because they have any experience living in Europe.

And, even if it does work there, it can't, or shouldn't be allowed to, work here in the U.S because America is so special and unique, meaning it's more important to keep the profits coming into a handful of corporations than to actually deliver care to everyone.

It all smells of Le Pen's crowd and the BNP in Britain.

[Disengaging Rant Mode. I feel better now.]

Both sides have exaggerated the benefits and the potential problems with nationalized health care. I remember reading a BBC report a few years ago that France is closing clinics in rural areas because the cost to keep them open is too high and France is looking for ways to start cutting back.

Nothing is free and nothing is perfect. You know, you don't have to make a claim for a tax refund from the IRS. You can give the money to the government...but I know of no one, liberal or conservative who ever considers it.

Every time someone posts one of these "they are all anti photography" threads we all come in like the tide does - regular and predictable. I guess its like griping about the weather - as the old joke goes "everyone talks about the weather but why does no one do something about it?"

Point is I get a bit tired of the same old ground being plowed over again and again and again.....till we do decide to "do something about it" perhaps this graphic says what I am beginning to feel

Very true, although the legislation under consideration here is far removed from nationalization. It proposes subsidizing the purchase of private insurance from existing corporations.

That said, it's very frustrating to try and get conservatives to say whether or not they want everyone to have access to care, or whether they think for-profit corporations can provide it. So many of them seem to have adopted a harsh pseudo-Darwinian view of life that sees a person's failure to acquire wealth as evidence they deserve their fate and that others have no responsibility for their welfare.

Very true.

Its one of the delightful ironies of life that the ultra conservatives who adopt this neo Darwinian view of the world are also more likely to be religious conservatives who deny that Darwin was right. (OK thats a sweeping generalisation but broadly its in the ball park) Small and greedy minds perhaps - human beings have a deplorable ability to rationalise away anything that does not accord with their preconceived notions! Another one in similar vein is that the pro life anti abortionists tend to be the same people who avidly support capital punishment.

Very true - be them dim-witted right Wingnuts with their death panels and irrational fear of any government involvement, or shrieking left wing Moonbats and their twisting of statistics and desire to "eat the rich" to right perceived inequities.

You really can't find a solution when lack of understanding of the topic and unwillingness to remove ideological blinders block the path. :bang:
