Another Windows Update that created more problems than it fixed. Tower Computer, VGA/HDMI output set to be Display 1 and Display2

All I want for an Operating System is for it to get out of my way when I am taking over the interrupt vector table.
DOS does that well.

As a rule I run Linux but I still use Adobe occasionally and need my printer so I keep microshaft on my desktop. If I would spend the time to learn how to make GIMP do the simple things I need I would be all Linux.

Unless you want software that is not on the Apple approved list. It is the security of Yevtushenko's Silver Fox. The safety of a locked cage.

I've spent a good chunk of time lately re-acquainting myself with the command line a few decades after I last used it seriously... only in Mac's Unix terminal instead of the good ol' MS-DOS I was using in the 90s. There's a lot of stuff to play with in Homebrew - some useful, some silly, and some that I don't know how I lived without while I was still stuck in GUI-land (for instance, I recommend playing with yt-dlp to download things from Youtube with no fuss - it's a lot faster and easier than any other method I've used over the years).

Apple have a reputation for being a "walled garden", but that's only really true on their phones and tablets. Mac is very open to tinkering once you start poking around.

All news, good news. But as I have restricted myself to an iPad it does not help. But thanks for the info.

I'm well aware that "Mother Apple" knows best but I'm not savvy enough to fight the fight. I am savvy enough to have gotten in several large quantities of trouble in my Microsoft days so I'm at peace with Apple. I really like the integration of all the Apple devices, phones, iPads and our computers. Makes life easier for us geezers.

My Mac Mini (Late 2012) is running Sierra with zero** issues, with stuff like Adobe Photoshop and LightRoom. The only time I need Windows (XP 🤣) to run NikonScan for my Coolscan 5000, I use Parallel to run a Windows XP virtual machine. It works perfectly fine with the Coolscan. And there is no need to update Win XP as it is no longer supported by MS. (Tq MS). I am happy as is. 🤗

Edited: **strictly speaking, zero issue but with one annoyance! The Chrome browser keeps nagging that "To get future google chrome updates you'll need macOS 10.13 or later." I have just found a super effective solution. Simply open the Terminal, type the following codes and hit return. That's it! Chrome won't nag anymore.

defaults write com.google.Chrome SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning -bool true

I also run Windows 11 Pro through Parallels Desktop on an iMac Retina 5K. So far, no problems.

In Windows, I'm running programs for my ham radio hobby:
Other ham radio programs: RT Systems Programmers, Chirp, and EchoLink, I can run in the macOS environment.
