The disease is spreading :D

I just spoke on the phone with a friend, who this afternoon went to check out an M2 kit with a seller I found and told him about it.

He got it for 500 Euros :)

A nice M2 with serial in the 1.09x.xxx range and an Elmar 50/2.8. Not much of a lens, but the price was right. I wasn't interested in the camera myself (already have one M2), and thought maybe the seller would have something else I'd be interested in....
Anyway, all of my shutterbug friends seem to be inclined lately to check out Leicas themselves, ever since they saw some of my Leica shots - and after handling my M2...
The friend who got this one was actually looking for an M6 (he likes the idea of integrated light meter), but the price for this kit was OK - the camera even has the original "L" seal above the bayonet mount....

Too bad about the lens, although I told him to put a Jupiter 8 on, and try that for size. Unfortunately, he doesn't have an LTM adapter.

BTW, anyone have an extra LTM-M adapter for 50mm lens that they'd sell reasonably?

I already promised I'd lend him my 35/1.7 Ultron for a trial run, since he intends to get a 'cron 35/2. I suggested the Ultron might be another possibility.
And since we don't use all of our lenses all of the time, the result is that we have a kind of lens/camera pool, and it's easy to borrow a lens or a body for a few days.... I might let him try also the collapsible 'cron I have...

A Dark Side collective ;)

As I said above, I'm looking for another 50mm LTM adapter.....

Regards,

Denis

hey, don't knock the Elmar 50/2.8. That's a Tessar derivative and a bloody good lens, mate! Are you on the Dark Side or not? ;)

Yeah, the uppermost layer of the right side of the Dark Side is better than the left 3rd layer down side! Nyah!

Denis, your friend did better than you think. Don't turn him off on the Elmar until he's had the opportunity to give it a fair trail. He - and you - could be surprised by the results! :)

The rule of two! There's always a master and an apprentice.

I got every adapter from eBay. The brand is Marumi. The price was about $30 each. Stephen Gandy also sells adapters but those are more expensive; $55 each, IIRC.

Hm, not exactly the relationship in this case :)
He's also got a Hassy with several lens, and he's also our local Nikon guru...
He's also had a lot of photos displayed on exhibitions - so I'd say he's a bit more advanced in photography than I am.
OTOH, it *is* his first Leica, if that's what you mean - while I'm at my second. So far ;)

The dark side, perhaps, but there are worst things that you can do to a friend.

An equipment pool, not a bad idea. You are pitching in pretty heavy though with the Ultron and Summi so make sure he gets some nice stuff for you to play with.

well done for the leica choice. 500 euros seems to be a good price for the complete kit. it 's a perfect christmas choice.

I had a look on the internet to see the way a M2 looks. How if the viewfinder comparing to a Bessa R ?
Anyway, M2 is looking terribly sexy.

Though my Bessa R has a lighmeter included, I still check with my gossen luna pro.
