Hi everybody. I've been shooting a Canon 10D DSLR for a few years now, mostly wildlife, so that means carting around lots of gear. Well, over the past year, I've been feeling a rumbling within my innards (no, I'm really quite healthy, thank you!), that has lead me to pick up a few digital P&S models. I'm moving away from wildlife and big glass and into street and WA. A couple months ago, I decided on the Panasonic Lumix LX2 and begn to experience a new freedom. I've been playing around with zone-focusing and shooting from the hip and things like that. It's been a blast, to say the least.

But I guess the inevitable was to be, and last week my first M arrived, a mint-condition M6TTL in black chrome. So it's been sitting on my desk , batteries installed, and waiting for me to find a worthwhile optical companion. Within a couple hours, the UPS truck should be delivering a mint-condition Summicron 35mm 2.0 ASPH. There is a roll of B&W ready to load. I'm looking forward to a film homecoming this weekend.🙂

...OH, it just arrived!

...Wow, this is such a tiny lens! It's soo COOL!!!😎

Gotta go a play a bit before work!

Welcom Mark and enjoy your new rig! My first RF was the same body but with a CV 35mm lens three years ago and I have not looked back (or used my Nikon SLR 😉 ) since. 🙂

Welcome to the Leica family Marke! My Leica M journey also started with a new M6 TTL and a 35mm Summicron ASPH lens many years ago. You will be amazed by what you can do with that simple kit. Once the addiction sets in, there is no turning back! 🙂

Another newborn!

The stork visited me 3 weeks ago with that exact setup though several years older: M6 Classic and Pre-asph 35 cron!

Welcome to the forums : )

May I say hello, while we're on the subject?

I'd been thinking "MP", and drooling all over the website, for a few weeks. The digital gear (1D and various paraphernalia) just wasn't doing it for me. No feeling about my photographs any more.

An impulse sick day on Monday (I had a massive house warming on Saturday, he!) saw me in the shop ... in front of the shop demo MP ... nicely discounted ... ooohhh ... borrowed a bit of cash from my mate, packed up the digital gear, and an hour later I was there trading it in.

MP, black, Summicron 50mm f/2, and my god I can't remember being happier with a camera.

I've only had it 4 days and already I have a more intuitive feel for exposure - as in, I can be walking down the street and I'll guess about 1/250th at f/11 and I'll be a stop off, max - than I ever did in years of digital photography.

The joy of pre-focusing, reading off my DOF from the lens, having the exposure set for a certain outside light, and just walking round snapping from the hip; it's a beautiful thing. This, for me, is photography. This is what I've been missing for all these years.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Nice to be here, it feels like a nice place to be. Hopefully in a couple of years I can be the one contributing answers rather than asking dumb questions. 🙂

Hmm, M6ttl and 35 'cron asph. What a nice place to start.

Robert, did you say "...nice place to start"?

Oh well, too late to turn back now!😀

Magus, you are so poetic. Your way with words alone is enough to keep me coming back here.

I guess I need some help with B&W film. For right now, I'll probably just take my film to a local lab, but I can see the possibility of picking up a scanner sometime in the future.

That's for the warm welcome, guys. I can see that with Leica/RF you either "get it" or you don't. I'm glad I got it.
