Ansel Adams, Once More With Feeling

I found some great photos at rummage sales. Weird portraits from long-gone studios and melancholy family snaps.

As for the article, the $200 million appraisal makes more sense coming from a huckster.

Whenever I read about these ''art discoveries'', be it an alleged Da Vinci or an Ansel Adams I have to chuckle. If I ever buy something for $45 and someone tells me it's worth $200 million, I'll offer it to them on the spot at a 50% discount.

Saying something is worth a lot of money is very easy. Finding someone who will pay that sort of money for it is a whole different matter.

I still do not get the meteorologists part in proving the authenticity of the negatives.

They must be very similar to existing Adams prints to make any remark on 'cloud patterns' and if they are, why would you need a meteorologist anyway?

Having the negatives appraised by a convicted petty thief will probably do Norsigian in forgood.

I still am amused by the Gordian knot Norsigian has created by claiming them to be Adams-made: if they are, they are unpublished work and as a result the copyright is with the Adams heirs for 70 years, and if they are not, they are just some negatives with no value. 😀

Pretty sure that if he sells a lot of them, the Adams family (bit of a pun here) will start to acknowledge them and he will end up with several law suits and after that, with nothing.
