Any 120 Acros Users Out There?

I apologize if I'm hijacking, but I have question about Acros and ilfosol 3. The Ilfosol 3 spec sheets as well as all the dev charts i've found, only note this combination at EI 80.

I'm new to film processing, so I'm a bit confused. Does this mean I should be shooting/exposing at ISO 80? What if I just wanted to shoot at ISO 100?

After reading about the Spur HRX i briefly did a search and found no stores in the US stocking this developer, looks more like it has been discontinued.
Did i miss something?

Unfortunately Freestyle is the only ones I know who stock it and it's very expensive:

I posted last week on the Large Format forum about the Euro/Dollar exchange, and this developer was the reason I was watching it. You can get the same size bottles of SPUR HRX at Macodirect for less than $30 per set. I ordered two plus some film and other things which were very cheap compared to the US price.

I don't know why Freestyle's price is so high. Too bad B&H doesn't carry it. It's a fantastic developer. I imagine it will continue to be very obscure simply due to the price.

Thanks Bryan, i didn't see the HRX when i was checking in the B&W chemical section, i think Freestyle missplaced it.
Anyway, Freestyle have priced themself out of the film and chemistry marked for some time now with film being close to 25% more than at B&H and Adorama.
I might order some from Macodirect soon to give it a try.
What are the keeping properties when opened?

You're of course absolutely free in using what you like.
I've never said anything against that.
I just wanted to help you by naming two excellent developers (which are not obscure at all) with which you don't have the problems with Acros you talked about.

You know what's ignorant and arrogant? Some grubby-handed merchant who NEVER posts his work and constantly bashes digital work as 'inferior' just so he can sell more film from his store.

I don't have a store, never had one. And I've never been a merchant.
I've studied engineering and have worked as an engineer since I've made my exam.

By the way I am showing my photo work permanently to other photographers and interested people. I show prints made in my own darkroom and I do AV presentations / projection shows for bigger audiences.

I very seldom show my pictures online because computor monitors are the worst medium showing pictures, no matter whether from film or digital capture.
I just prefer the excellent quality of a real silver-gelatin print and a projected picture.

That is what I want to mix myself.

Well, I have not used FX-37, only FX-39 with Acros.
With FX-39 I am developing 8 minutes, and expose at ISO 80/20° for having excellent shadow detail and a perfect characteristic curve.

Wonderful film when you need things to be clean, I suppose only TMax-100 is cleaner.

Here's a scan of a print I made, 120 Acros @ 100 in Tetenal ultrafin 1:20, Ilford Multigrade IV.

To conclude: Like any other film from the "big three" out there, it is consistent, has the speed it says it is in most developers,
is clean, looks nice but may have the edge over others due to the reciprocity properties on longer exposures.

I've pushed Acros to 400 with pretty nice results in HC-110B too.

It has a little short development time in HC-110B (5 minutes), so consider dilution H
......even though my experience is that as long as it has enough developer to cover and you work fast
and consistent in stopping the development, it will work just fine with 5 minutes.

This is what I am talking about. I like this a lot. Fuji says this film is "Ortho-Panchromatic".
Perhaps that has something to do with it. Anyway I like what I have seen for those using it for portraiture.

It's one of my favorite 120 film, along with Tmax 100. The curves between the two films are slightly different; therefore, I'll use one over the other for a specific look. I'm trying to use acros 100 in sheet film, but scanning that film is far worse than tmax100 sheet film... such a pain but hopefully can show an example of that too...

I'm still working on my first bottles of HRX, and they are working just fine after opening them 6 months ago. I've been hesitant to use it since I only had a small quantity (100ml of each A and B) but now I'll be able to use it more since I bought a bunch. I used some last night for the first time with T-Max 100 and the negatives are very nice. The highlights were completely restrained in really contrasty situations (shooting into the sun, you can still see the circle of the sun despite being way overexposed) but the negatives aren't flat in contrast. I've got to try this with some larger negatives.

Thinking about shooting this film now that Ilford is out of reach in Japan. Any advice on push processing? Im thinking about going with the manufacturer reccomendation to shoot it at 200 and push it in T-max...

Another good alternative for FX-37/FX-39 is Tetenal Ultrafin T-plus, (500ml) also especially made for Tgrain type films. All these receiptures are very close. Tetenal should be worldwide available in an easy way.
