Bronica SQ-A mirror seems to be hung in the up position. So film advance is locked and can not remove lens due to shutter not cocked. And any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Have you had a look at the Butkus site? www.butkus.org
The manual for your camera should be there, and the problem is probably something very simple. I had similar problems with my ETRSi at first until I read the instruction manual.

Does jiggling the mirror lock up lever do anything?

I have an ETRSi not SQ, but my basic Q is: how's the battery? There is one isn't there? Lots of lockups come from battery coma....

Also: Frank Marshman in Virginia is the Bronica go-to. You should be able to find his email with his name + Bronica googled.
